DermCoder Frequently Asked Questions

What version of Windows is DermCoder compatible with?
DermCoder is compatible with XP, Vista, Windows Server 2003 or greater, and Windows 7.  We no longer support Windows 98 and Windows 2000 as Microsoft has discontinued support of this version as well.  

Is DermCoder network compatible?
No, as of 2010 DermCoder is licensed on an individual PC basis.  You must purchase a license for DermCoder for each PC you install it on.  Discounts for multiple licenses are available.  

Is DermCoder Macintosh compatible?
At this time, DermCoder has not been tested to work on a Macintosh computer.  You can however, run Windows on the Mac using Apple Boot Camp, Parallel, or VM Fusion.  

Will DermCoder work on my Unix or Linux system?
No, DermCoder is designed to run on a Windows-based PC-compatible computer.  

Can I save it to my hard drive?
When you insert the DermCoder CD-ROM, your computer will run an installation program to install the program to your PC’s hard drive.  

Will DermCoder work in conjunction with my billing software?
No, DermCoder is a stand-alone program that will run in Windows.  It does not integrate or merge data into other programs.  However, DermCoder does allow you to export CPT® codes, ICD-9 codes, fee schedules, etc. to a Microsoft Excel format.  Your billing software provider should be able to tell you if you can import a Microsoft Excel file into your billing software.  

Can you print and export data from DermCoder?
Yes, you can print any screen, print a listing of all data, or export Data to Microsoft Excel format.  

Does DermCoder contain fees from private insurance companies?
No, it would be impossible to gather the fee schedules from thousands of insurance carriers with dozens of different plans.  DermCoder provides a suggested insurance fee schedule, which is based on a multiple (30% to 40% higher) of Medicare’s fee schedule for your locality.  DermCoder allows you to change these multiples should you wish to computer your own fee schedules.  

What if my computer doesn’t have a mouse?
DermCoder will only work in a Windows-based PC environment, which requires you to have a mouse.
